The parliamentary special committee for constitutional amendment has invited eight experts to attend its meeting today for their opinion on possible changes in the country’s supreme charter.

The experts are Justice Syed Amirul Islam, Attorney General Mahbubey Alam, former attorney generals Rafique-ul Huq and Mahmudul Islam and Dr M Zahir, Ajmalul Hossain, Tawfique Newaz and AL lawmaker Fazle Noor Taposh, said a parliament secretariat release yesterday.

The 15-member parliamentary body led by Deputy Leader of the House Syeda Sajeda Chowdhury will hold its fifth meeting at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban. The special committee was formed in July 2010.

On receiving the experts’ opinion, the committee will start preparing proposals for the changes in the constitution.
