An international seminar on human rights of Asian women and elimination of all forms of discrimination was recently held in the Capital.

More than one hundred social workers, human right activists, students and some Korean residents participated at the international seminar jointly organised by Political Science Association of Nepal (POSAN) and Gender Studies programme at Tribhuvan University.

The seminar held at the Padma Kanya Campus in Bagbazaar, Kathmandu on Friday reviewed the situation of Asian women’s human rights violation cases including that in Nepal and North Korea.

Dhan Prasad Pandit, associate professor of TU, gave the opening remarks at the conference while POSAN President Kapil Shrestha provided the keynote speech.

Acting Secretary of Nepal Human Rights Commission Bed Prasad Bhattarai, former lawmaker Puspa Bhusal, lawyer Geeta Sangraula, among others attended the international seminar.

Similarly, Park Jaemyun, Director of Korea Food for the Hungry International in Nepal, spoke about the situation of human rights of women and children in North Korea during a panel discussion with Subodh Pyakurel, renowned human rights activist in Nepal.
